Re: Swinging Church!
While I know my response may not be popular here goes............. IMO this problem is growing more and more, and we will see/hear of it more and more. I personally attribute this and other activities surge and acceptance to the widespread promotion and acceptance of once taboo subjects/actions by the media driven world we now live in. While the "older" generation may have been able to withstand certain temptations, the younger generations have grown up being desensitized to immorality, and even seeing it glorified/sensationalized. TV channels (HBO, Cinemax, ????) promote sexual promiscuity and alternative relationships/lifestyles. Even regular prime time programming is full of innuendo, and outright sexual content. When so many with our churches are watching this type of programming, it is no wonder that we are starting to reap the tragic harvest.
The influence of TV on our society, and the sexual revolution is realized by listening to young people talk. Even as a pastor many talks with young people end up being about sex, not because I brought it up, but because they did. They talk about it at church, at school, at work, they hear it on the radio, see it on the computer, TV, and movies. And then we wonder how they can be so "open" about the subject. The precious gift that was designed to be protected and cherished until the wedding night, has become penny stock traded with no value.
We must teach principles to our children, and live by the same principles we teach.
