I understand your concern. Several people's reputations have been brought into question on this forum, and when it's a conservative, the conservatives rally. When it's a liberal, the liberals rally.
On this forum, mostly what I've seen is the words and preaching of the two you mentioned have been questioned, not necessarily their character.
Those who did make personal insults have been infracted and apologized.
