One thing I don't do is intentionally underestimate these monsters! They can move slow or fast, take a wide or narrow swath.
Even the conventional wisdom of tornados is being proven false. They have been known to suck creeks dry and follow valleys, or just skim the ridges of the hills.
As a First Responder and a storm spotter I am privy to some National Weather Service video footage that is frightening and gruesome.
