I posted this on my blog, "
Reaching Thoughts" this morning, and wanted to share it with you.
I want to share with you the greatest fear I have when it comes to my walk with the Lord.
Therefore I tell you, every sin and blasphemy (every evil, abusive, injurious speaking, or indignity against sacred things) can be forgiven men, but
blasphemy against the [Holy] Spirit shall not and cannot be forgiven. And whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but
whoever speaks against the Spirit, the Holy One, will not be forgiven, either in this world and age or in the world and age to come. {
Matthew 12:31-32}
I have this fear that I, if I had continued in the pattern I was in, was going to commit blasphemy of the Holy Ghost. I was going to ........ to Hell believers and state that the working of the Spirit in the lives of those whose ’standards’ did not live up to mine own was indeed of the devil. I am afraid that, if I had not stopped, I would have committed this horrible deed against the precious Spirit of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. However, as of late, I have watched an elder I have admired in and out of the conservative movement, do exactly this in the arena of cut hair on women. Now, I will not copy/paste his words on here, but to summarize, he said that if a woman has cut hair, she is damned to Hell, and any church which allows the cutting of hair is not a Church of God (true church).
Now, I am not sure, but that is, IMHO, very, very close to blasphemy of the Holy Ghost. I am a minister in a church which sees such things in relevance, and thew Spirit moves very freely in GloryLand Church. I have witnessed miracles, signs, wonders, and the supernatural occurring. For this elder to say what he said, he came close to saying that the move of the Spirit we see in our churches is not of God. He did not come right out and say it, but he came awfully close, and way too close to the edge of the abyss for my liking.
DO NOT judge and criticize and condemn others, so that you may not be judged and criticized and condemned yourselves.
For just as you judge and criticize and condemn others, you will be judged and criticized and condemned, and in accordance with the measure you [use to] deal out to others, it will be dealt out again to you. Why do you stare from without at the very small particle that is in your brother’s eye but do not become aware of and consider the beam of timber that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, Let me get the tiny particle out of your eye, when there is the beam of timber in your own eye?
You hypocrite, first get the beam of timber out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the tiny particle out of your brother’s eye. {
Matthew 7:1-5}
We are in a season where too many are majoring on the minors, and minoring/ignoring the majors. We need to stop and look around us for a moment. We have a world going to hell in a hand basket, and we are concerned with makeup, rings and jewelry, and hair length. God help us to see that we, as His people, need to reach out to the lost and dying with the Gospel, and stop all this immature bickering over foolishness.
It is not holiness in physical appearance, but in
ALL areas of life.
