Pollster Scott Rasmussen of
RasmussenReports.com has an interesting breakdown of the where the Democratic candidates are getting their sources of support.
Black: Obama 81% Clinton 7%
White: Clinton 50% Obama 39%
Women: Clinton 51% Obama 40%
Men: Obama 60% Clinton 28%
I found those numbers kind of striking.
We've all kinda known that race and gender were always a part of the voting process, but I've never seen it as distinct as this before. Indeed, race and /or gender could well be a major deciding factor in who our next president will be.
It would be nice to think that people would vote primarily on
the issues. But, in the real world, maybe its kinda naive to think that way.
(It does make me wonder how much of a factor it will be if Obama ends up facing McCain.)
