When liberty is defined there is no liberty
Not too long ago in a service the church was being exhorted that they need to have more liberty.
Knowing the person, the situation and the tenor of the exhortation it was obvious that "liberty" meant that we all needed to jump higher, shout louder and hoop & holler more.
This thought came to me in an instant.
"When liberty is defined there is no liberty"
When someone has a definition for what "liberty" is then the only liberty I have is to fulfill their definition of liberty.
If I feel to fall on my face and their definition of liberty is to run a lap... I have no liberty.
