I had one that slept 9 hours his first night (and every night there after, with the exception of a few). I have 7 children and now I probably have more sleepless nights then when I did when they were babies. I will have one come in at 12pm and need help using the bathroom, I will have another one come in around 2am need help getting water, and then maybe a bad dream around 3am. That can make it hard getting up in the morning. These nights are few, though. My 14 month old will wake up in the night and I will give him some water and he will go right back to sleep.
My first one slept with me until she was 3 months old, my husband was gone on a military assignment. She would sleep for 8 hours every night. I loved this. When she was three months I took one of my t-shirts that I had worn and put it in her crib. When I would feed her she would fall asleep and I would put her in the crib and she would sleep through the night.
