I watched about half of the video and this is obviously past normal poor housekeeping skills. That being said I have to confess to having pak rat tendencies.
But let me say up front I would never sacrifice my garage to total storage; in the north with cold and snow, a garage is to valuable!
Since I'm aware of my "weakness" in the clutter area I read everything I can find to keep me on the straight and orderly. I was surprised to find an article connecting the pak rat personality with ADHD and OCD. The claim was that 1/3 of OCD patients suffer from compulsive hoarding.
Since I have OCD tendencies as well it was quite a revelation!
I discovered a "Christian" author, Cyndy Salzmann, she is a professional organizer and has a cool blog. We have all heard someone say they need a bigger house, but as she states, we just need less stuff.
It gives new meaning to
Rev 3:17, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing;........
And yes, as was mentioned, the man of the house could clean, toss, pick up.....before it ever reached this he should have hired a maid, maybe she was just overwhelmed. And it takes money to accumulate all of their "things"; close the credit card accounts.
I know someone with more advanced clutter than I, and their basement is literally filled....to quote her husband , "Shop in the basement"!
