My grandson who just turned old enough to learn how to ride a bicycle was so surprised and will never forget when "Pappa K" rung the door bell. His mother opened the door and there stood this blessed man. After a few words of greetings, he asked for Matthew.
Matthew came running down the stairs, so surprised to see pappa K standing there completely unannounced. "Matthew I have something for you. Come with me to the car."
Matthew followed him to the car where pappa K opened the truck and pulled out a brand new bicycle to give to him. It was his first two wheel bike...with training wheels of course. WOW! That little boy will never forget.
Pastor Kilgore has always been like that. Those young people would almost scoop up the ground he walks on. He has won their love. Now many of them are grown, many on the mission fields, pastoring churches and are scattered in the Lord's work around the world.
Oh my! What a legacy of Christ-likeness. I see Jesus.

When I was last there for the baptism of our dear Bro. Chosen, The church there asked if anyone had a car to donate to a struggling family...I was impressed by that.
As I was leaving, Pastor Kilgore gave me a sisterly hug and said he loved me and hoped I would come back soon. He has always been so warm and gracious.
I respect men of God who know when the time has come to pull back and let others take the baton and run with it.
