Tragedy at Cars for Kids Show
Drag racer kills four bystanders at show
SELMER, TN - Four people are reported dead after a vehicle drag racing at a car show in Tennessee lost control and spun into a crowd of bystanders.
Authorities say up to 15 other people were hurt.
Investigators are trying to determine what caused the vehicle to careen into the crowd at the Cars for Kids charity event in Selmer, located about 80 miles east of Memphis.
One witness says the vehicle started burning off its tires, then began to fishtail and slammed into a light pole before spinning around into the audience.
The Selmer police chief says, "Bodies were flying into the air when it happened."
A Tennessee Highway Patrol spokesman says the vehicle is described as a drag racing car, but he didn't have more details yet about the vehicle.

This is the town right nextdoor to mine. This would be horrible anywhere but it is worsened by the fact that we live in such a small town. Please pray for these families. My children's father and stepmom are EMT's and she was called in to work, as they need as many people as possible at the hospital. She said the last count she heard was six to eight dead and between 20 to 30 injured.
