Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
He is the visible image of the invisible God.
There is no difference between the God of the Old Testament, and the God of the New Testament. There is no "old testament filter" nor is there a "new testament filter". Paul said the Rock of the Old Testament was Christ. Moses called that Rock YHVH, the LORD.
There is no difference whatsoever.
Here's new testament:
Revelation 19:11-16 KJV (11) And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. (12) His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. (13) And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. (14) And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. (15) And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. (16) And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
And again:
2 Thessalonians 1:6-9 KJV (6) Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you; (7) And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, (8) In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: (9) Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;
We cannot ignore the totality of scripture in order to present a nicer-than-reality version of Christ. His love is higher than the heavens - where'd that come from? OLD TESTAMENT!
Psalms 57:10-11 KJV For thy mercy is great unto the heavens, and thy truth unto the clouds. (11) Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: let thy glory be above all the earth.
Psalms 42:8 KJV Yet the LORD will command his lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the night his song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life.
The Old Testament depicts God as loving, whose mercy and love reaches to the heavens, who is ever faithful and true, slow to anger, and abundant in mercy.
There is no one God of the Old Testament and a DIFFERENT God of the New Testament.
They are ONE and the SAME - JESUS CHRIST.
