The day as in the 24 hour period started at sundown (about 6pm) and runs to 6pm the next "day". But when speaking of hours, it's different.
Genesis 1:5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.
There are hours of the Day and hours of the night.
