Why I Usually Vote Republican

I'm a conservative. I'm for limited government, for sound fiscal policies, and lower taxes for everyone.

I am a Christian. I believe an unborn child should be protected from abortion/murder. I believe marriage should be recognized as it has been for thousands of years. Our country was founded by men and women who were strong believers in the Bible and Jesus Christ and they sought to build a nation that protected the free exercise of religion.

I believe in a strong military. History has proven that a strong American military is not only good for us but for the world. Pacifism doesn't work. Isolationism doesn't work. There are evil men and regimes in this world that want to annihilate Western civilization. We cannot downsize our military. We cannot disengage in troubled areas of the world. To do so will endanger us and our allies.

I am for strong borders. I am for legal immigration. I am for closing the border, enforcing the laws of the land, and for deporting those who will not go through the proper procedures to become American citizens. I believe we should give those who are here a chance for citizenship, but they must do it like everyone else is doing it legally.

I am compassionate. I care about the poor. I care about the elderly. I care about children. I am for a safety net that helps those who cannot help themselves. Yet I am against a broken set of systems that makes people dependent and stuck in a dead end lifestyle. I am for effective ways to help people. Ways that help individuals to rise above poverty.

I am a registered Republican. I usually vote for Republicans although I have voted for a Democratic mayor in Ohio and a Democratic governor where I live now. More times than not the GOP reflects my political views. I'm not always happy with the GOP. I think establishment Republicans are a huge problem for our party. The GOP is not my idol. I don't believe it's the answer for the world's problems. But between the two parties, the GOP is closer to who I am than the Democratic Party.

I cannot align myself with a party, the Democratic Party, that embraces abortion on demand as its platform. I cannot stand in solidarity with gay activism, the same-sex marriage movement, the transgender agenda, the euthanasia movement, the gun control lobby, the legalized drug agenda, the legalized prostituion effort, the freedom from religion movement, pacifism, isolationism, the efforts to cut back on our military, the pro-Palestinian movement, extreme environmentalism, and all the many other fringe groups that are working hard to undermine the fabric of our culture and seeking to vastly change the essence of who we are as a nation.

I cannot support a president or candidates for president who embrace many of these agendas. Liberalism is a cancer in America that is eating away at our moorings. In just six and a half years we have seen fiscal policies that have more than doubled our national debt, reduced the size of our military, decreased our influence in the world, increased the influence of Russia in the world, the rise of ISIS, an awful deal with Iran, normalized relations with communist Cuba, friction with Israel, the legalization of same-sex marriage, the legalization of marijuana in several states, a government takeover of healthcare, higher taxes across the board, race relations worsening than improving, attacks on the coal industry harming a vital economic driver in several states, promotion of pseudo-scientific global warming initiatives that have wasted money and hurt industry, and the list goes on.

I have prayed for our president many times. I am sure Samuel prayed many times for Saul. But ultimately this president has done much harm to our nation. Liberalism has been eroding our nation. We are not better off than we were in 2008. We are not better off than we were in 2000, 1996, 1992, 1988, 1984, or 1980.

And if the Democrats win the White House? The downward trend will continue.

That's why I vote Republican. That's why you should too.
