I don't think being raised in a large family was the problem.
More likely it was one of two things: He may have been exposed to someone who exposed themselves to him indecently as a child, or, it could be the element of seclusion - not being able to be around others of his own age which may have contributed to his exploring his feelings with his sisters, instead of girls his own age.
Just my opinion.
