In my old church, that was the case. Pastors worked outside the church (full-time). They literally came from work to church during the week.
I actually think that is the way it should be BUT I can see the benefit of having a full-time pastor.
What I can't understand is that some people think just because you are anti-tithes, you are against supporting the church. That is not the case at all. I would have no problem in helping to pay the bills for the church and/or salary for the pastor. My problem is when someone says it is my duty and it should be a certain percentage of my income and if I miss a penny I am going to hell.
I am suppose to pay my pastor's salary and feed him before I feed my kids or I will be in condemnation. The bible doesn't say that.
