CPU Fan question

Just upgraded the media PC with a new Mother board and a 5000+ AMD X2 CPU. Bios temp said it was about 49-50 or so with the smart fan feature off. I turn it on and the temp reads 54 or so. While in the OS I run an AMD app that shows the fan temp at about 46 with the smart fan turned off...

I wonder if the smart fan feature is set to run the temp at around 55 or so? I'd prefer to err on the safe side and have the temp at the lowest I can get it. System temp is pretty low..

I have one case fan in the rear with a side duct fan, one system fan on the MB and of course the CPU heatsink fan. I also have two hard drives and they each have a fan.

Any thoughts?
