I came in on Arias' trial late, after she was already on the stand testifying in her defense. Do Judge's always talk to the Defendants and inform them they may or may not testify to their defense and let the Judge know what they choose to do?

Judge today had GZ stand and told him he didn't have to testify, but he could; that he should consult with his attorneys and she will ask him later what he chooses to do.

It just seemed heavy handed and odd. Granted, my opinion is biased against the Judge right now, with the fireworks last night and her conduct and bias for the Pros this entire trial.
