With the "sequestration" agreement from last year's debt ceiling compromise looming at the end of the year, defense contractors are planning for job cuts. According to a law that unions pushed hard for, the WARN Act, a law that requires employers to warn their employees of planned job cuts ahead of time so they can plan for a change in their job situation, defense contractors are required to warn their employees of the impending cuts as a result of the sequestration.
WELL....because the administration doesn't want bad news about job losses coming before the election, they are asking defense contractors not to obey the WARN Act, to not notify their employees of job cuts now, and if they should have to lay people off in the near future and people file lawsuits against them, the administration says that the taxpayers---YOU AND ME---will pay the legal fees!!!!!!
This is purely a political move by the Obama administration to keep the bad news about the economy off of radar screen. They can't afford more job loss information 5 weeks out from the election.
Shameless...even liberal Juan Williams agrees it is politically motivated...
