he was charged with assaulting the cops, it was dropped because the cops failed to show identificaton. Had they shown it there would have been no confrontation.

This was not a response to what you are talking about-- I am talking about the Martin case and you are talking zim's police record. zim also had a domestic violence report filed against him, but it was dropped too.
I don't think zim looked at Martin and had the intent to kill, but it is a strong possibility that it was his prejudice that started the confrontation.
Also, zim didn't live in the neighborhood where he killed Martin, making his death all the more non-sensical.
At the end of the day, I am glad it's looking like it is going to trial.
