Have you guys heard about this case?
I don't remember hearing about it back in 2002-- but there was a lot going my on in my life back then, to include a failed realtionship with the first woman I ever loved (romantically). But never mind all of that.
The Brian Banks story is as gut wrenching as it is inspiring. I am glad that GOD has allowed for Brian Banks' name to be cleared.
He was accused of rape when he was 17. He was accused by a 15 year old. The rape allegedly happened in broad daylight, in a school. There wasn't any DNA evidence because they never even had sex!
Brian Banks' Defense Attorney told him to accept a plea deal because no one would believe him being a big black teenager.
His accuser admitted, 10 years later, that she made the whole story up.
The accuser's Mom sued the State of California and was awarded either $750,000.00 or 1.5 million dollars.
In the videotaped confession, that the now 25 year old tried to deny, she also voiced concern about the payout she had received, "I don't want to have to pay all that back."
Simply morally bankrupt.
From 1 article:
"The story didn’t hold water, said Banks’ attorney. Gibson gave varying locations for the alleged attack. No DNA was found. Also, how was she dragged across campus in broad daylight without anyone seeing them? Despite the lack of evidence, prosecutors offered Banks a difficult choice: Take a plea in hopes of a short sentence, or face a sentence of 41 years to life.
Banks said he agreed to plead no contest after his lawyer said a jury would see “a big black teenager, and you’re automatically going to be assumed guilty.”"

The 17 year old youth's accuser was a 15 year old. Both are black.
Had his accuser been white, there would be a bigger stir about this tragedy. The hypocrisy is infuriating, but I am sure I can come up for a defense of this kind of behavior if I sat down and thought long and hard about it.
Though it is easy to point out and explain the myriad of examples of and the affects of white hatred towards blacks, it's not so easy
(and definitely not as popular) to talk about black hatred towards other blacks and the myriad of examples and the affects of black hatred towards blacks.
But if you are of the ilk that wants to blame whitey for every wrong that happens to a black person in America, you can still pin the tail on the white man in this case.
I am all but certain that the 17 year old Brian Banks' Defense Attorney was white. So there's your carrot!
Can you imagine the mindset of the parents of the 17 year old Banks hearing the Defense attorney say this about your full-scholarship receiving son, and based on your own life experiences, accepting the advice of that lawyer and deciding it was the truth and deciding to accept the plea deal for your son that you have invested so much love into?
Or even worst, imagine you are his parents and you tell your 17 year old son, "Son, we will leave this decision up to you,"-- only to have him to decide for himself that it is better to make a guilty plea for a crme he didn't commmit?
This is a classic, but modern example of how even today, many blacks see themselves in America, in relation to our legal system, our country and the rest of her citizens.
One could spend two or three years thinking about this case and the magnitude of what it represents. Yet, why would anyone spend even a month thinking about this when what we all really want to know is the sex of Snookie's out of wedlock baby.
