Oh, and Marcion is said to have been the first to put together what we would call a Christian "Bible". He omitted, I believe, the entire Old Testament. (Didn't like
that God, and thought Jesus came to destroy him.) Had only 11 books: a version of the Gospel of Luke and some of Paul's letters.
Irenaeus later added to God's Word, thinking that there just
had to be
four gospels, seeing as how there were four winds and four corners of the earth. Yeah, that makes sense. And since the powers that be decided Marcion was a heretic (a.k.a. "doesn't think like we do"), they figured it was OK to modify his Bible. (Of course, some people later called Irenaeus a heretic, but what're ya gonna do? Have to cut and run, some time!
