Perry, who has been Governor of Texas for 10 years, has more high-level governmental executive experience than anyone in the nation who hasn’t already served as President.
In fact, he has more executive experience than Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Reid, combined.
It should be noted that while Texas has been leading the country in job growth and other economic areas, Perry doesn’t deserve all of the credit for this record, but he does deserve a good share of it.
That is because during his tenure the often divided Texas government, in which 29 major offices are elected statewide, has functioned (mostly) as a unified team with Perry providing leadership. This team has kept Texas’ tax burden low despite hard times, and has kept Texas’ government among the smallest in the nation.
