Matthew says that this genealogy is "false" according to your literalism, as does the writer of 1 Chronicles since they all present different genealogies for the same people.
You still have not answered the question:
How could Zerubbabel be descended along the patrilineal lines of both of David's sons, Solomon and Nathan?

The way most Fundies fudge the different genealogies between Matthew and Luke is to claim that one (usually Luke's) is actually Mary's and not Joseph's genealogy.
Ok... maybe. The Bible makes no such claim, but maybe...
So, let's simplify the equation. Let's work out the genealogy of Zerubbabel (the hero of Zechariah's and Haggai's prophecies and the Post-Exile "son of David" -
Haggai 2 and
Zechariah 4).
Why don't these genealogies work out? Why do they contradict one another? You brought it up coadie.
