Well, you'll have to forgive a bit of hyperbole on my part. It made for a good post, putting words in your mouth. 
I don't feel that you're truly being judgmental, AQP. I know you're just pointing out the inconsistencies, and they do exist, and when a large group of us is gathered, they are more glaring than usual.

I'm simply pointing out the contradictions that those around us are going to see. I've always felt SO STUPID explaining to people why I don't wear a wedding ring, when I know they can look at our culture and say....hmmmmmm. Okay, so you don't believe in jewelry, because you don't believe in drawing attention to yourself, you don't believe in adornment, you don't believe in being ostentatious. Okayyyyyyy.
That's all. I'm just pointing out the double standard. If someone wants to wear a barrel-curled beehive 3 feet high, knock yourself out. But please don't try, at the same time, to tell someone that you don't believe in adornment. It just makes no sense.
