From the Left:
McCain is currently in the position of having to select a VP running mate. There was speculation about Gov. Romney joining McCain on the ticket. Certainly any highly negative images of Mormonism in the media would present a significant obstacle to Romney in the American social consciousness, thereby hindering McCain from selecting a man who could be a rather popular VP candidate.
