Here is a point I have made over and over: In the bible not once ever did anyone question the purpose of water baptism. Not once did anyone put it off for a little while. Not once did anyone treat it as optional. Not once did Paul mention baptism as a work.....He did mention circumcision of the flesh and keeping the law.
In the bible the immediate response to hearing the gospel was trust, repentance and baptism
