Acts 17:28 "For in him we live, and move, and have our being."
Our own "righteousness" is as filthy rags - when we try to go it alone.
We still have "outward" appearance to contend with after we have Christ in our inward parts.
I Timothy 2:8-10.
(8) "I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands,
without wrath and doubting. (9)
In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; (10) But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works."
He begins with the "inward" in verse 8, but also gives instructions for the inward to match the outward.
