Adam and Eve were expelled from the Garden and God erected a barrier in the form of cherubims and a flaming sword.
A model of this was constructed centuries later called the Tabernacle and temple. Cherubims lined the walls of the temple in gold. Palm trees and flowers showed the garden-like picture. Even two pillars, named Jachin and Boaz, had two hundred pomegranates on them.
And the way into the holiest was barred by a veil with cherubims sewn into it, like the garden entrance was barred.
Adam's sin put him out of the holiest of holies in the garden and put the barrier up. And it is significant to learn just how that sin came about. The devil tempted them to eat of the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil. He told the woman to be like God and know good and evil. In other words, have no need to rely on any other God. but yourself. Learn what is good and what is evil so you can avoid the good and do the evil. In this manner she left reliance on God and improved herself by herself, so she thought.
When we separate ourselves from God by thinking we do not need Him and can improve ourselves by ourselves, a barrier of that separation is erected. A veiling. A wall. The cherubims were there because mankind separated themselves from God by the their sin.
That veil is upon everyone's heart.
2Co 3:15 KJV But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart.
Moses refers to Law and Law refers to do's and don'ts. It is self improving self by having gained a knowledge of good and evil from a written law. God knew law could not be kept and man would never be able to improve himself by himself, but man had to learn that lesson. Hence, law was a schoolmaster to teach a hard lesson that man cannot improve himself.
But so long as we look to anything about improving ourselves, such as LAW, the veil is on the heart and stays there. It is a separating system, that maintains a veil when we try to serve God in oldness of the letter and law.
But when the heart turns away from do's and don'ts, and looks to Jesus...
2Co 3:16 KJV Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away.
His sword of the word cuts that veil away!
In the last book of the bible that everyone thinks is about wars and beasts and computer chips, the very first vision was introduced with words that it was a REVELATION OF JESUS CHRIST.
Rev 1:1 KJV The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:
And significantly, REVELATION means UNVEILING. And look what we read:
Rev 1:10 KJV I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet,
If John heard BEHIND him a great voice, then he had to TURN AROUND to see the one speaking, just as Paul said when the heart TURNS TO THE LORD THE VEIL SHALL BE TAKEN AWAY. John was about to get a revelation of Jesus but he had to turn around like Paul said. When the heart TURNS TO THE LORD. the veil shall be taken away and a REVELATION SHALL OCCUR.
Rev 1:12-13 KJV And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks; (13) And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.
He saw JESUS when HE TURNED. And the SWORD WENT TO WORK CUTTING AWAY A VEIL!
Rev 1:16-17 KJV And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength. (17) And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:
The SWORD cut into John! THE WORD. And John experienced a spiritual surgery in his heart. He fell in fear and Jesus SPOKE AGAIN and significantly said FEAR NOT!
John had a veil of FEAR on his heart, and he should never have fell in fright upon seeing Jesus. SO, Jesus had to cut that away with the sword of his mouth.
Like John, people read Revelation and get fearful. Revelation is an OPTIMISTIC eschatology if you read it correctly. If you are afraid to read the book, you have an evil veil on your heart. Someone preached to you a pack of error and instilled fear. Revelation reveals Jesus when presented correctly.
And after hearing words for churches, John saw Jesus like a Lamb go to the throne having conquered death and the grave as a little lamb that was slain but is now standing! RESURRECTION!
And proceed from there to the wars and the beasts and the devil. From the standpoint of having FEAR REMOVED by getting a revelation of Jesus HIMSELF FIRST as king of kings!
