The Bible warns against debt, and taking on debt without the intent of paying is stealing. But no, debt in itself is not sin.
I concur.

Thankfully, we have God's grace working in our lives. We'd all be doomed without it.
Amen.
If the debt is a result of failure to trust God's providence, a failure of being content and instead charging up frivolous things... then we only pray that God's grace works in that situation until we fully believe and become good stewards. Debt is not God's desire for us. He came to give us life, and life fully... debt is not healthy and doesn't free us to live life the way he wants. But saying that and drawing a direct line to the hot place is a poor starting point.

I just laugh so loud. The folks pray for God's will and they think approval of a loan is a gift from God to build a church. Like God is short money and can't provide for all the cost of a church?
My uncle in a rural church showed me a new wing. It was fancy and God answered the prayer and they took an offering that covered all the construction. 12 miles from a small town. They support a lot of Missionaries. No debt to interfere with missionary support.

Did you pay cash for your home and vehicle[s]?
