"men and brethren what shall we do?'

Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Using your logic ... and technique for interpreting scripture ... CHEW ON THIS: They were already calling each other "BRETHREN" PRIOR TO EVEN HEARING "THE MESSAGE"

37When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, "Brothers, what shall we do?"

So you are saying they were already saved and Peter just wasted his time preaching to them.

Two out of Three ain't bad. Jesus name Baptism?

I would say let Jesus handle that part. The do believe, repent to, confess and preach Jesus.

Lack of understanding is their only error.

I do not see Jesus abandoning his Spirit filled and blood bought children over a "name" not said at baptism.

They just do not understand and are stooped in centuries of tradition.

You are not suggesting he didn't get to preaching until verse 38 ... don't obfuscate ...

But if they aren't baptized in Jesus name their sins have not been remitted. Sin will never enter heaven.

When is the blood applied?

Repent And Be baptized,,,,, looks like the two work together.

When you repented today, was not the blood applied and were you washed again.

Baptism with out repentence is no good either, it takes both.
