I completely disagree with that.

The pastor, if guilty, carries a much, much heavier weight of blame, though.

You should be banned forever for saying this. Several have expressed opinions as to whether or not Scotty should have told his story. While there are varying opinions, it's his story, no one else's and it's his to steward. As for what "Michael" has said here.....it's the most insensitive thing I've ever read on this forum.

Re: UPCI pastor resigns amid teen sex charges

Boy, I can't believe some of the posts on this thread. Some have made harsh judgements without knowing details of the affair.

In my humble opinion both are guilty. Somewhere I heard it said, "It takes two to tango!" Now this would not be true if it was a rape case, but to the best of my understanding this was not a rape case.

Why are we discussing this so much? Is it with glee that this is posted? Can the little "guilty" lady be proud of the AFF that has discussed her and "the guilty man" in such great details, for the whole world to see and read? The Apostolics have taken them a part! What has been accomplished? Seems like I remember a certain minister that was crucified on a forum and then .... well I won't go there!

What harm has been wrought by this thread, if any? Just wondering!

What would be your attitude if it was your family involved? Would you be so free to criticize each of them?

Is there any merit in the scripture, "4* They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.
5* Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?
6* This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not. 7* So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her." John 8:7

Do we spend too much of our time reading and posting this kind of "stuff", feeding our mind on raw gossip and unsubstantiated "facts"? Even to the point of calling a man a liar who honestly, from his heart, expressed his personal experience and personal loss!!

Wouldn't it be better if we used this measuring stick? Php 4:8* Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Re: UPCI pastor resigns amid teen sex charges

Right now we have two "sex" case threads going.

One about Bishop Eddie Long and one about a home missions pastor in Ohio.

Where are our minds?

Have I spent more time reading these posts than I have spent in praying for those 2 pastors? Don't ask.

Re: UPCI pastor resigns amid teen sex charges

I went to IBC with one of his daughters who was a wonderful girl and one of my best friends was married to his other daughter. He made a bad bad decision by going so young.

His ministry career is over. If he goes to prision his life may be over since they beat/kill folks doing anything to underage kids.

There is a strong line of reasoning to be made that the age of consent should be lowered to 16 in todays sexualized world.

He was very bad to take advantage of a younger female he was not married to since younger females are easy to manipulate, especially if you have the deep insight into people that a veteran pastor would have.

Re: UPCI pastor resigns amid teen sex charges

Does it not take 2 to tango? No matter the reason for it starting or escalating blame lays on both parties. However, we don't know the parties involved so we don't know if she was the starter of it all. But God be with them both because they both need Him more today than yesterday. Perhaps there were wounds there that never healed and it festered enough until one day it was infected. Sad state of events.

There are some on this thread that should think very seriously about not EVER posting here again. Just my thoughts. But the fact remains that God's grace it sufficent for us all.

Re: UPCI pastor resigns amid teen sex charges

I pray for God's MERCY for the lives and the souls of the offenders, and those affected by their decision to sin.

Lord, please have mercy on them. Lead them to a place of true repentance and guard their minds from the future assaults of satan upon their repentance. In the Name of Jesus Christ, amen.
