Rob McKee does not believe Affirmation Statement

I believe Dan was been hurt by someone in UPC years ago...(of course...who hasnt been? All who live Godly will suffer persecution...sometimes by our brothers...but we must get over it) that's why you see so much bitterness towards it (making websites trying to discredit ministers etc.). It appears to be his life's passion. He has become known as "the guy online who hates Bro Stoneking". In life we will either carry a harvest sickle or a sword of war...I choose the sickle...
I too have heard that story about Bro Barnes...he was one of my apostolic heroes. As far as my name being attached to the broadcast...I completely agree with you. I brought this up to the station when we met (some may not believe me...but God is my witness). I wanted it to be more focused on The Pentecostals of Katy and the church...unfortunately it wasn't my decision. The station said it would make it difficult to market. At the last minute we added my name (my wife's was always attached to her show)
One note about seeming prideful..there is a flip side to pride...I believe the same pride that will cause some to sit on the platform will cause some to sit on the back row. Fear of being talked about is rooted in pride. I battle with my pride daily...chances are pretty good that we all do. I'm not above getting wrapped up in myself at times...I sincerely value your prayers.

McKee, a UPCI pastor of the Pentecostals of Katy, who will begin a TV ministry shortly, has publicly admitted he picks and chooses which holiness standards to preach, teach and believe.
This despite the pledge and oath he and others ministers in the UPCI make every two years to uphold and preach and teach the holiness standards found in their Articles of Faith.
The statement, Rob, signs bi-annually states:
Quote:
I (Minister's name/Robert McKee), do hereby declare that I believe and embrace the Fundamental Doctrine as stated in the Articles of Faith as set forth in the Manual of the United Pentecostal Church International. I also believe and embrace the holiness standards of the United Pentecostal Church International as set forth in said Articles of Faith, and I pledge to practice, preach, and teach the same."
|
For reference the standards clause in the Holiness Article reads:
Quote:
"We wholeheartedly disapprove of our people indulging in any activities
which are not conducive to good Christianity and Godly living, such as theaters, dances, mixed bathing, women cutting their hair, make-up, any apparel that immodestly exposes the body, all worldly sports and amusements, and unwholesome radio programs and music.
Furthermore, because of the display of all theseevils on television, we disapprove of any of our people having televisionsets in their homes. We admonish all of our people to refrain from any of these practices in the interest of spiritual progress and the soon coming of the Lord for His church."
|
Robert, is also a signee and member of a recent movement within the UPCI that seemingly rewrites the Affirmation Statement, WeDeclare.org
The WeDeclare crowd seemingly picks and chooses which parts of the holiness standards are important while giving leeway to others like media and jewelry.

Re: Rob McKee does not believe Affirmation Stateme
McKee has also affixed his name to a divisive movement that picks and choose its standards to preach while calling out org leadership when it states:
Quote:
Whereas the United Pentecostal Church International has been the flagship organization of the modern Oneness Movement, it is important that she remain a doctrinally sound organization, standing foursquare on those absolutes that bind us together.
Furthermore it is imperative for the modern Apostolic Church to contend for the faith that was once and for all delivered to the Early Church.
The public face of this precious organization is comprised of elected leadership, committee appointees, and speakers at our meetings. We feel that these should be men whose lives and ministries entirely reflect the values and beliefs of the United Pentecostal Church International.
Whereas we as ministers of the gospel have no more precious asset than our families and churches, and no more solemn responsibilities, we are concerned about the consequences of intermingling and fellowship with those who share our organizational affiliation but not our commitment to the doctrinal absolutes and Apostolic distinctives that we find in the Word of God.
While we recognize among us that there is considerable latitude for differences in the expression of holiness principles, we find ourselves at a critical juncture where there is a battle being waged for the soul of the Apostolic movement. There are destructive forces at work that would like to strip us of our Apostolic identity in an effort to be more palatable to a godless society.
The faithful grassroots constituents of this movement overwhelmingly agree on these basic points:
1. The complete infallibility and full sufficiency of Scripture both Old and New Testaments.
2. The Oneness of God having always been expressed by the Apostles.
3. The essentiality of the New Birth as defined by John 3:3-5 and Acts 2:38, et al.
4. Deuteronomy 22:5, when the principle of this passage is properly applied, women should wear dresses and men should wear pants. (edited 9/28/09 WeDeclare.org)
5. 1 Corinthians 11 teaches that men are to keep their hair cut short, and that the hair of our ladies is to be kept uncut.
6. Biblical modesty precludes (prohibits) excessive jewelry, painting of the face, coloring of the hair, short skirts, mini skirts, shorts, sleeveless dresses or shirts, and low necklines.
We understand that there will always be room for differences among us, and that each pastor has the responsibility to preach, teach and disciple his flock as he sees fit. Issues such as media, wedding bands, and other areas of diversity are and should continue to be tolerated.
We oppose the idea of a co-existence of teaching an Old Pentecostal Tradition versus New Pentecostal Tradition concerning any area of doctrine and standards. We consider these elements as a non-negotiable doctrine established upon the Word of God.
We believe that we should strive to reflect the positions detailed by Scripture concerning these issues, in our homes and in the churches we are called to serve, whatever that capacity may be.
Knowing the importance of godly fellowship, and knowing that evil communications corrupt good manners, it is our desire to provide the basis for a network of truth loving men who have covenanted together to uphold and support one another in contending for the faith once delivered to the saints

Further proof that the affirmation statement and those who proclaim a corner on holiness standards have used the Affirmation Statement as a political sword to divide and destroy since its inception in 1992 .... using its contents wantonly while willing to break fellowship over it..

Matt 7:1 Judge not, that ye be not judged. 2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

Ditto. A two edged sword.
For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

DA, IMO no one affirms all the stuff in aof/as.
The question becomes, "what does the AS and AOF mean to us today?" Like legal documents in government, these also contain some outdated positions that are lo longer adhered to by the general membership.

Really? Seriously? The worst thing you can come up with that is that he doesn't sign the AS? If that's all the "wrong" he's done, I'm quite proud of him. Is he reaching people? I'm sure. Has he sinned? No. Get over yourselves. You are NOT the mouth piece of God and I often wonder if some of you even hear from him.

KOB, thing is - he, like many, has signed it
But like many, he doesn't abide by it ... while like many, he uses it as a political football to bop his own teammates over the head.
Integrity matters. No sarcasm.

Re: Rob McKee does not believe Affirmation Stateme
Meh. I spoke to my pastor about the AS. He doesn't remember the last time he had to sign one.
My only concern is that if you sign something saying you'll do something, or refrain from doing something, then don't follow that.... wouldn't that make one a hypocrite? The last time I checked, hypocrisy was a sin.
