No I have never seen or heard of anyone leaving their child at the hospital so they can go party.
I have heard of and know of people personally who have been denied coverage by insurance companies because of pre-existing health conditions. Under the HCRA, this will no longer happen.
I've heard of people and know of people personally who forgo necessary medical treatment because they don't have money or insurance. Under the HCRA, this will not happen so often.
I've heard of people dying because insurance companies refusing to do potentially life-saving surgeries-- more than one person, pre-HCRA.
So actually, we already have death panels-- people who decide if your 13 year old daughter's life is "worth it" to them to save.

JD how can you believe what all of the "non-readers" of the HCRA are saying to all of us. Obama stated so emphatically that our rates would not go up but would go down. Guess what! My insurance rates have already gone up and my deductible and co-pay have gone up as well!
Surprise, surprise! I guess we just sit and wait for the rest of the surprises to come. Pelosi said it right I guess, "We had to pass it to find out what's in it!"
Too late now. We're stuck with "Obama's Disaster Plan!"

Not only have my rates, deductibles and co-pays gone up but my doctor has stopped seeing Medicare Patients. I'm fortunate that I am still on my wife's insurance plan and only have Medicare that takes care of the hospital. If I loose my wife's insurance then I also loose my doctor when I have to go on Medicare parts A & B.
And do you think for a minute that there are doctors just waiting out there on a Medicare Patient? Not so! Thank's to Obama and all of his followers.
God help America if we don't turn the House and Senate around in November and then turn Obama out to pasture in 2012. I'm really tired of looking at so many "rears", (saying it nicely)... you know... all those people who have their heads in the sand!

The rates at which Medicare reimburse medical entitites have always been low. The phenomenon of Doctors not wishing to see Medicare covered patients has nothing to do with the HCRA and everything to do with a sour economy and a general growing dissatisfaction with Medicare rates.

JD I would have to say you've got that one "wrong!" Have you not heard of the course of doctors who said if Obama passed his plan they were getting out of the business. That's not what I said that's what they said. There were many of them making this same threat when the plan was being discussed.

The American Medical Association said that “passage of health system reform by the U.S. House of Representatives today is an important step toward providing coverage to all Americans and improving our nation’s health system.” The AMA also said that, while the bill isn’t perfect,” by extending health coverage to “tens of millions of uninsured, improving competition and choice in the insurance marketplace, promoting prevention and wellness, reducing administrative burdens, and promoting clinical comparative effectiveness research, this bill will help patients and the physicians who care for them. There are increased payments for primary care physicians caring for Medicaid patients and bonus payments for physicians in underserved areas.” The AMA posted a document last week that provides answers to several frequently asked questions about healthcare reform legislation.

The American Academy of Family Physicians has also praised the passing of the reform bill, calling it “a comprehensive health care reform bill that will expand coverage to millions of people and move the country toward a more primary care-based health care system.” AAFP president Lori Heim, MD, in a prepared statement, said that “although the bill is not perfect” and that “this legislation is the beginning,” as a result of Congress passing this bill, “Americans can look forward to health security because they soon will have the chance to buy health insurance that meets their needs without emptying their bank accounts. It opens the door to a reformed health delivery system by paying a bonus for primary care services, which sends a message acknowledging the value of primary care physicians. It also encourages broader testing of the patient-centered medical home and focuses on paying for quality rather than quantity. It begins to invest in the primary care physician workforce as the foundation of a more efficient and effective health care system for this country.”

The group Physicians for a National Health Plan said that this bill is akin to “seeing aspirin dispensed for the treatment of cancer,” noting that it will still leave 23 million Americans uninsured; “drain about $40 billion from Medicare payments to safety-net hospitals, threatening the care of the tens of millions who will remain uninsured;” and will cause healthcare costs “to skyrocket, as the experience with the Massachusetts plan (after which this bill is patterned) amply demonstrates.”

Re: 20 states sue against Obamascare
As you see, the response from medical professionals across the company have been mixed concerning the Healthcare Reform Act.
However, Doctors deciding to not see Medicare patients is not something related to the Act.
Medicare's problems, to include their lousy remibursement schedule, extend way back-- before Obama, before GWB.
