Really? Show me the scholars they quoted to uphold your view of this passage.

Re: Isaiah 3 and jewelry...
I sign off for a few hours and miss all the fun.
Is rdp still citing his "scholars?"

Didn't you already put your foot in your mouth once with this rambling comment with Baron?
I examine the evidence of other scholars. These scriptures aren't as controversial as we are making it here on AFF. Only Puritans like yourself that choose to ignore the breadth and meaning of a text.

John said love NOT in word, so does that mean we can't tell someone we love them??? You know it says not to do it.

The word "NOT", rdp. Clear and plain! Quit trying to erase the Word from God's own mouth!

Good grief, does it get any worse than this? "Not with BRAIDED HAIR, GOLD, OR COSTLY ARRAY." But, Baron apparently knows better than the apostle Paul, since he tells us that it's "not about" the very thibgs that Paul wasted his time mentioning?!?!?! And I'M the "thick" one???? Unreal!
You can't seem to get it...seems plain to me...oh and every scholar out there that doesn't have an agenda.
|
Yes, very "plain" indeed! And I agree the scholars don't have an agenda...including Bernard, French, Treece, etc. Besides, your "agenda" is to make the Word of God of no affect thru your traditions...such as ornamentation.
Hmmm, try putting an ornament on the Governor's house & see what you get! REVELATION: NT believer's are God's temple/house! Sheesh...you guys are the one's that "don't get it!"

What an old and tired argument:

Silly rabbit, Baron is talking about Paul's own words.
Yes, you come off as quite "thick."

In response to your earlier response in bold [which I figured you would say], you're doing the same thing w/ the NIV, RSV, HCSB, etc. In the final analysis, textual critics state both based upon a reading of the greek "adorning". But, then we have to consider if we're dealing w/ the Majority Text, or the Critical Text...which enhances the discussion significantly.
Also, to specifically address your concern of the word costly not appearing in italics in the NIV, NLT, HCSB, RSV, etc. Do any words appear in italics in those translations?
|
to come up w/ this...independent of the others? Let's be honest here.....

I don't know about the others your quoting but I would be willing to bet that Segraves is not on board with the way you misuse this Scripture.

Ughhh, do your own homework....instead of expecting me to do it for you! I don't have the books w/ me where I'm at right now. See Bernard's "Practical Holiness," "In Search of Holiness," etc. Also see Treece/Segraves regrding I Cor. 11 & the hair issue. No, I won't mention the footnote in Louw-Nida's Semantic Domain regarding the grammar of the hair issue...I won't do it!
