Not sure I agree, Mike. But fortunately it's not a deciding factor for fellowship
Why use cubits if that means nothing to me when it meant something to the original audience? Why use language that I can't relate to? What's the point?
The authors originally used a language that was understood to the original audience.
The number of cubits is the point.
For example, and this is not exhaustive. 50 is used in Jubilee, Pentecost, etc. 30 is used for maturity as in age for priesthood and Christ's ministry start. 300 is remnant, as in the 300 foxes Samson set loose in the fields, and the 300 men Gideon wound up with. The ark was 50 cubits, by 300 by 30. You see no significance in that? Certain numbers rise forth again and again in scripture, and they are related in this sense.

That would certainly depend on the story, and how deep one decided to get into Numerology!
Re the ark. I guess I don't read anything into the dimensions of the ark. In that case, refer to the KJV as a back-up text, but it has no value for me as a primary text. No knock on the TR either (though I have my concerns), but mostly on the vernacular which no matter my familiiarity since hearing it my whole life, is still a foreign language to me. To this day, i still uncover texts that I misread forever assuming a word meant something it didn't.

Without getting into numerology, there is a valid study of the types in numbers. 7 means completion. It is simply what is evidently implied when used in many instances.

10-12Don't, by the way, read too much into the differences here between men and women. Neither man nor woman can go it alone or claim priority. Man was created first, as a beautiful shining reflection of God—that is true. But the head on a woman's body clearly outshines in beauty the head of her "head," her husband. The first woman came from man, true—but ever since then, every man comes from a woman! And since virtually everything comes from God anyway, let's quit going through these "who's first" routines.
13-16Don't you agree there is something naturally powerful in the symbolism—a woman, her beautiful hair reminiscent of angels, praying in adoration; a man, his head bared in reverence, praying in submission? I hope you're not going to be argumentative about this. All God's churches see it this way; I don't want you standing out as an exception.
What would LS do with this rendering???

I like the Message. What I normally do is read a version like the Message and when I come to verses or passages that don't seem to line up with what I've heard preached or studied and understood it to say before, I stop and do a comparative study of several versions. I have a NT that has 8 parallels. In those times of study, that's the one I'll most likely open.

"The Message", is a great English modern version of the Bible. It is not biased toward Universalism, one must have a revelation of UR by the Holy Spirit to overcome just such traditional brainwashing to endless punishment.
The truth of the total redemption of the creation, comes thru all versions and translations, when the translators are dedicated to be faithful to the text.
Yes, I do love "The Shack", it speaks to the heart of the brokeness of humanity in a way that "religion" can never do. Legalism (the Law) condemns but never provides any power to redeem.
BTW: Your post is a cheap shot, if you want to discuss or try to refute UR, have at it, I will take you on.

He can't. Nobody can refute revelation!
