Re: Crownover's Holiness PPT: Admits to Traditions
I don't necessarily agree with the "sin" part in regards to volume, but just think there is MORE of a point then trying to come up with a certain beats and saying that THEY are worldly (again, usually anything that is not Southern gospel).

That's true, but I'm not sure that this preacher was trying to be legalistic about it. But I didn't watch the powerpoint, either.

How do you define carnal music? Most of the music that I hear in churches is glorifying God in some way.

Daniel are you for real? It din't say the music was unwholesome based on volume, he was saying the same principle that teaches smoking is wrong should be used to say music or sermons that are so loud they cause physical damage are unwholesome.
That doesn't seem like a stretch to me.

Any music can be played at a damaging volume ... you are not suggesting Beethoven or a hymn played at a ear damaging decibel is necessarily "unwholesome" or that this was the spirit of the Holiness article resolution in 1954 are you?
His intents was to expound on the the meaning of the various clauses of the Holiness Article ... was it not?

Any music played at a damaging level would be contrary to holiness principles, I believe that is the context. The very next slide points out it is not the "kind" of music that is the issue. He also points to the content of the music as what makes it unwholesome.
Perhaps it is more about true holiness rather than just a list of rules?
