" He is the light, not us"

Hmmm, Matthew 5:14 "You are the light of the world".

However, I do know what you are saying though.

Excellant points DA.

See Peace is breaking out right here, I can feel it. We don't agree on some things but that doesn't need to make us enemies. Even if it does the Lord said to I need to love my enemies and do good to them that despitefully use me.....

Yes, God's Word is forever settled but our understanding of it is not.

In 1 Corinthians 13 we are told that our knowledge and our prophetic gifting are partial or incomplete. The Word is compared to a mirror.
When we look into this mirror the image is not crystal clear.
We see more of an outline than a detailed image.

! Cor 13:12 in the KJV says:
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am know

In the NLT it says:
Now we see things imperfectly as in a cloudy mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me.completely.

In The Message it says:
We don't yet see things clearly. We're squinting in a fog, peering through a mist. But it won't be long before the weather clears and the sun shines bright! We'll see it all then, see it all as clearly as God sees us, knowing him directly just as he knows us!

In the NASB it says:
For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I will know fully just as I also have been fully known.

The Amplified says:
For now we are looking in a mirror that gives only a dim (blurred) reflection [of reality as in a riddle or enigma], but then [when perfection comes] we shall see in reality and face to face! Now I know in part (imperfectly), but then I shall know and understand fully and clearly, even in the same manner as I have been fully and clearly known and understood [by God].

Some times we smugly and arrogantly think we "know it all," that what we believe and preach lines up perfectly with the Word of God and anyone who has any other view is wrong, wrong, wrong.

One thing that I think we need to give up is the attitude that I'm right and everyone else is wrong.

Re: Peace @ AFF

One thing that would help is if all of us went with the Fundamental Doctrine Statement as adopted in 1945 and paid more attention to that second paragraph.

Re: Peace @ AFF

This is quite an insightful question. Everyone has their own idea of what "peace" is. When looking in the dictionary there are 5 different definitions of what peace is. I think everyone has put forth some really good answers to this questions; and I've really enjoyed reading what others have to say. I remember when taking my communications courses in college one of the things discussed was how people communicate; especially when they disagree.

While one person is speaking the other person has already formed their opinion/response; when they have not heard everything the person has said. It's very interesting because the other person could have said that they agreed with the other person. Preconceived ideas of what one is going to say can cause unnecessary disagreements.

I've been a member here on AFF since 2007 and have not posted much; partly because I don't feel it is necessary to repeat what has already been said. On the other hand I try to take into consideration how and what I say will be received. I've seen several instances where one my say something and it is not received in kind, because those on the receiving end do not read the comment(s) in their entirety (assuming they know what it says), respond based on their personal feelings, and some just show a lack of respect for that perspective.

Having said all that I think that for the most part there is a "peace" here on AFF, however, at times things can get a bit icy. Everyone should read comments in their entirety and in the context that they are stated; and if you don't understand don't attack the person, but ask for clarification. Sometimes it's hard to understand when you're talking on the computer.
