Doesn't matter what people believe...if it's not Biblical its not salvation..
Holiness living....well if that's your definition.

Mat 16:15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
Mat 16:16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
Mat 16:17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
Mat 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
Mat 16:19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
Mat 16:20 Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.
The context of Matthew 16 is that the keys to the kingdom are knowing who Jesus is.
Not something that we randomly throw in much later as being the keys.

While Jesus was Fully God, He was also still on His throne in heaven. God is spirit. The nature of God, the spirit that He is, is that he could both be sitting on the throne of heaven and yet also walking Earth as a man at once. After all...the spirit that is God fills all time and space. We exist in Him and by HIm.

I don't like your ocean analogy I think it breaks down. Besides every time I see ocean I think adverse possession of property Open, Continuous, Exclusive, Adversely, and Notoriously.
anyway back to the point, if you take a glass of water from the ocean you don't have the ocean in a glass you have a glass of water.

actually the keys were given because of that revelation. the keys here are authority god had given peter, which is why he proceeded to say "and whatoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

Take a closer look at that verse. it actually reads backward in English. Peter is to declare what has already been established in Heaven not that Heaven is going to back Peter.
Segraves explained it to us like this...
Whatsoever you bind on earth shall be as having already been bound in heaven.

The revelation of Jesus is the base of our salvation.
Peter had the authority of the Holy Ghost to preach the first Salvation message of New Birth on the day of pentecost.
While discussing semantics can be fun, it doesn't change the fact that Acts 2:38 is the Gospel Salvation that must be obeyed if we are to see Christ!

Thanks for clearing that up.
Because you said it that makes it fact.
Acts 2:38 is not the Gospel.

Reads backwards? How so? I guess I'm not understanding your point clearly.
This doesn't seem to be a mysterious verse to me. Upon this "rock" (revelation) I build my church... you are Peter and I give you keys (authority) to bind and loose. This is the authority that the church has even today. In a primary reading, this is setting Peter up as the potential leader early on in the church (despite the knowledge that James was the leader of the church in the 1st century). This is why Catholics refer to Peter as their first pope.
I understand that Peter is not establishing anything that hasn't already been established, but that is exactly how the Spirit works anyway!

In a technical sense, but when pressed by people feeling conviction and desiring hope and change, Acts 2 is the words Peter gave them in response in a crucial moment when everyone was listening. The words he gave were advice on how to respond to the Gospel.

The Holy Ghost is the spirit of Christ correct? The Bible says if any man have not the spirit of Christ, he is none of his!
So infilling of the Holy Ghost is a must, and only comes after repentance...!
According to the Bible its a fact.
Please define Gospel for me. Does it not mean good news? The Gospel is supposed to bring freedom to the lost soul correct?
He bled and died for us so that we could obtain salvation.
Salvation is the only way to get freedom from sin, Acts 2:38 is the message of how to get salvation.
Sounds like the Gospel to me.
