Honky Postal Workers

We live in one city and my wife works in another city and in both cities the person delivering the mail will not bring a package to the door.

They will drive up and honk and if you come out to the vehicle and get it then you can get it that way. If not, then they will leave you a note that they tried to deliver it and you need to come and pick the package up at the office.

Is this a common practice with mail delivery where you are?

They put in on the porch for us.

Firstly, I thought this thread was about CAUCASIAN postal workers when I saw the thread title!!!!

But in answer to your question, I don't think that is actually Post Office policy, if you called you local office directly and complained about it, they would probably change. I think it is something that they see if they can get away with, most people won't tkae the time to complain.

I did at my office, our box is out at the road, and they were doing that all the time (w/out even honking). I called and complained, because their pick-up hours are the same as our office hours, so that meant someone had to leave the office during business hours to go pick up the package. I made a fuss, and it hasn't happened since. Doesn't hurt to try!

Yeah... I might have to give that a try. I wanted to check here first and see if this is just a new trend or if we just have 2 lazy mail deliverer type people.

It must be a common practice as that is what our postal service does, as well. We have several post offices here, but we have to drive to the main office (on the other side of town) to pick up packages. Having to do that, is a bit inconvenient.
