Senate Bill Would Give President Obama Authority t

Senate Bill Would Give President Obama Authority to Pull the Plug on Your Internet

CNET News has obtained a summary of a proposal from Senators Jay Rockefeller (D-W.V.) and Olympia Snowe (R-Maine) that would create an Office of the National Cybersecurity Advisor, part of the Executive Office of the President. That office would receive the power to disconnect, if it believes they're at risk of a cyberattack, "critical" computer networks from the Internet.

“If the ‘Internet Takeover Bill’ passes, Barack Obama can silence his dissenters directly -- by ordering a shutdown of all Americans’ access to the Internet. But that’s not all. Even outside of periods of White House-declared ‘emergency,’ this bill mandates that private-sector networks only be managed by government-licensed cybersecurity professionals."

Great. I file taxes on line including 940's and 941's for employee withholdings. As required. He is not bright because we are actually required to use it and he MAY want to restrict it.
He wants to tax the rich and then he slashes incomes on wall street. He promised me the rich would cover the Healthplan costs by their taxes.

He is trying to silence the talk radio programs like Rush and Hannity and Beck because they tell what the government run media doesn't.

If he can silence the internet he can dictate what he wants without anyone being aware of what he is doing.

His lies about having a transparent government is about as far from the truth as he can get.

I hope America wakes up before it is too late.

Re: Senate Bill Would Give President Obama Authori

Is this related to the stepped up number of infiltration and cyber attacks on our government computer networks?

I have no doubt he will try to use those attacks as a justification of this action. Cyber attacks of such nature do not justify such an act of censorship and violation of freedom.

The Bush administration used the same logic to justify domestic wire taps without a warrant.

Honesty though... I think this is being hyped up into something that it isn't. We'll have to see. A concern of mine is that we as Christians have no issue with playing into the hype... and there are no reprocussions for our doing this. We can accuse any politician of the most outlandish stuff to the point of outright lying or perpetuating outright lies and we walk away feeling like we've done no wrong.

Do any conservatives ever feel they've done wrong when playing into hype like this?

Re: Senate Bill Would Give President Obama Authori

Warrantless wiretaps were a bit different from basically shutting down the internet and only allowing service through Government controlled and monitored outlets.

First, the wiretaps were only used on suspected terrorists. Contrary to the leftist hype....they weren't listening to your grandma giving out her cookie recipes over the phone to your wife. They weren't listening to every mundane conversation and just hoping for a hit. The Fed doesn't have the resources to do that.

Second, it worked. They did get a good amount of info on suspected terrorists by tapping suspects.

Shutting down the net in order to stop attacks from a few hackers or to shut up dissent is sickening. It's something you would expect form Commie China or the former USSR.

Like your first sentence hype about the Bush administration?

You are a hypocrit.

I confess, my son is Cisco certified and can go thru firewalls and routers. Like a lock smith, they protect us.

Holder the Head of the Justice department is as we speak trying to get a case thrown out where this administration is doing exactly what they accuse Bush of and are being sued.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009...est=latestnews

Quote:
Holder's effort to stop the lawsuit marks the first time the administration has tried to invoke the state secrets privilege under a new policy it launched last month designed to make such a legal argument more difficult.

Under the state secrets privilege, the government can have a lawsuit dismissed if hearing the case would jeopardize national security.
Obama administration seeks protection for wiretapping they do.

I never had a problem with the taps. Perhaps I am naive, but I believe they were only tapping those who were suspected of terrorism or had contact with those who were suspected.

If I thought they were using it to tap unrelated citizens...I would feel differently.
