I've heard that golf balls work. Scatter some around where you think the snakes are. They think they are eggs, eat them, and then die when they can't digest them.
I have heard this somewhere

The bonus is you can then have the entire church over for Putt-Putt. The draw back is you will never get the lawn mower out for fear of seeing this...

HAHAHA!!

I think I'll skip trying the golf ball trick. Hubby is dangerous with a lawnmower already... he doesn't need any help.

At the end of the summer last year he threw something with the lawnmower into the big window on the side of my minivan. Don't want to go through that ordeal again.

Thats why you plant one or two where the mower can't get to them....remembered .....My grandmother would put them in the nests where the chickens layed.

We have LOTS of rattlesnakes. I purchased this Snake-A-Way product and went to Wally World to purchase lots of the Naphthalene mothballs (there are other types of mothballs that will not work).

When I saw the ingredients of Snake-A-Way, I went to the farm store and purchased 50 pounds of sulfur. I put lots of sulfur and mothballs all around - even under the generator. One day I found a sleeping rattlesnake coiled up right on top of my mothballs and sulfur under the generator. I still spread mothballs all around in hopes the sleeping snake was drunk or lacked the ability to smell.

BTW - If we want more snakes, we feed the birds lots of food. The bird food droppings brings in the mice and rats. The mice and rats bring the snakes and badgers. We quit feeding the birds because of the mice, rats, and copious amount of snakes that congregate. I'll assure you they are not there to listen to the bird music.

I've seen a few of those chicken snakes when I was a kid! Scary creatures! I hate snakes and those palmetto bugs that fly.

Last night as we were leaving for church-- we killed a baby copperhead on our driveway. It was about the size of a pencil. Michael thought it was a WORM-- and wanted to keep it for a pet.

Usually where there's one-- there's at least half a dozen of those things.

I hate snakes!!

This is the first time we've seen one of those in many years. I know that living close to the river like we do, we are going to see snakes-- but I don't have to let them live in my yard. There has to be something effective to keep them away.

I hate snakes!!

The lawn is kept cut short -- and larger snakes would be easy to spot.. but the thoughts of there being more of those babies out there is keeping my kids in the house unless hubby is home to be out there with them.

Did I mention that I hate snakes?!
I did not read the other posts but snakes and cats don't mix. That is the reason when we lived more rurally we had outdoor cats. Also you can use moth balls.Snakes hate moth balls.

Well I saw some snake-away at the pest control store.

But it sounds like it might not work according to the above poster.
