Re: Finally! A Great "Prophecy" Article in the Her
I just had an interesting thought.... The headline in the paper said that apostles thought that Jesus was coming in their life time.
From a futurist and partial preterist viewpoint, the apostles were wrong, But full preterist believe the apostles were right (I think... don't they teach that this was the destruction of the temple?).
My questions are thus.... Were the apostles wrong on anything else? They were charged to take the gospel to the whole world, they got everything right, except the Jesus' coming (according to partial preterist and futurist)
How could the Apostles be wrong?

Wow!
Just finished reading the article!
Let me see!
The Apostles were wrong about the coming of the Lord, but they were right on everything else!
We know this is the end times but it might not be the end times!
We must prepare ourselves for the end times yet also prepare ourselves to stay around a long time because it might not be the end times yet we know it is the end times.....

I agree with you,the Apostles were not wrong, Jesus himself taught them. If they were wrong then our whole plan of Salvation is in question. However, they were not wrong; Jesus came in their lifetime as he said he would do,in their generation.
For anyone interested, we have 2 books on our website that proves by scripture that Jesus returned in wrath in 70AD. The names of the books; 1, THE FEASTS OF THE LORD AND THEIR FULFILLMENT, 2, THE ELEMENTS DESTROYED, HEAVEN AND EARTH PASSING. These books are very detailed, yet, even my 82 year old Mother could understand them.
To understand fulfilled prophecy will help you to better understand your whole bible. You will have a peace you never knew was possible while believing in dispensationalism.

I would not want to delight in missteps of others, Lord knows I have made plenty myself.

I think Dr C does address this at least. Christians of all ages have expected and desired the coming of the Lord. I don't know that that's a bad thing - regardless of ones eschatological persuasion.

Re: Finally! A Great "Prophecy" Article in the Her
We say that God wrote the bible through the power of the Holy Spirit using man. We'll easily point to 2 Tim 3:16 where is states all scripture is inspired by God, but still accuse the Apostles of being wrong on the coming of the Lord? Does that mean God was wrong, because in hindsight, HE wrote the bible...?

I would not say they were wrong. They were right in their expectancy of the coming King and the only hope of mankind.
Again I think this view works from a Futurist or on a different level Preterist perspective. Those who are Partial Preterist would agree that some who heard Matt 24 died prior to it's fulfillment. This is what the Futurists would say too.
I am just thankful to see an Article deviate from the subjective newspaper predictions we have seen in the Herald in the recent past.

I know where you're coming from. I do not know off the top of my head all the verses in the bible where the Apostles thought the coming of the Lord was in their day.
My point is this: Those verses are God inspired, they cannot be wrong due to the very nature of God. If those verses are wrong, then God was wrong when he inspired the writers to scribe those words.
