I think it's perfectly logical to take a course like President Obama has set out and that is to offer a hand of friendship to those who are willing to accept it. Should we blindly trust them? Absolutely not, and he isn't advocating for that. He made it clear that he would defend this country against the terrorist sects of Islam.
In the end, I think you work overtime through intelligence gathering and not turn a blind eye to terrorists like we did in the late 90's and early 2000's. Always be skeptical, but also don't be too arrogant to seek peace with those Muslims who are peaceable people.

I am a moderate Baron. What is extreme is posters in this thread who apparently don't believe there are peaceful Muslims in the world. Use whatever term you like to define it, but it's the same type of misguided opinion that many top level officials in the last administration held.
So everyone that is Conservative is lumped in with the last administration? Most conservatives had issues with the last administration as well. As a moderate then can I assume you treat interns like Bill Clinton did? If you are going to label someone at least make sure they fit the label.

Snubbing France, Germany, and England and threatening Israel with Sanctions. It doesn't help us to be rude to our friends and fawn all over the countries who supply the terrorists.

That's completely preposterous. He isn't falling all over himself. Read the entire speech. He stands up to extremists and makes it clear he'll defend this country against terrorists.
I really believe the problem is you hawkish Conservatives are having a difficult time reconciling the fact that your foreign policy of the past 25 years in the Middle East has been a ridiculous failure. You helped to create Saddam Hussein and then have done a very inept job of dealing with the limited threat he presented.
President Obama is changing the tone and seeking diplomacy first. That's the type of change the American people voted for in November.
