Be forewarned tho - homeownership is kind of a "guy magnet". Shoot, if you've already got the home taken care of, he can just waltz in and plop his bottom on your couch, demand his soda (or beer in some cases) and flip on your tv to a sports channel. How much better can it get ----- for HIM!

Exactly!! Hence I am getting her this lovely housewarming gift as a reminder that most of the men she will encounter will be toads!!! Don't let the lips fool you (kisses are NEVER free) and don't let him try and take your house!!!! Make him work for it!!!

Re: I'm Buying a House!!!
That's great, Renda! It looks real nice. I'm sure you will love it. We are also buying a house, supposed to close next week. It was a foreclosure and we got a bargain. It's on 11 wooded acres so that's great. Main drawback is it's 25 minutes to work, but I figure I'll get used to that! Also, we will have two house payments for a while. Please help us pray that we sell ours quickly!!

I found one that I liked and recognized the area was close to a guy in my department, so I asked him if he knew the street. He said it was one over from his and his MIL had a house for sell on that street (not the one I originally saw).
So, after work Friday I went by and saw his MIL's house (she moved about six months ago into a smaller condo). I LOVED IT!!!!
It's at a GREAT price, excellent condition and just right for me.
All I will do is paint it "my" colors, clean the carpets and move in!
My lease is up in August, so it will work out just perfectly and the BIG blessing is that my house payments will be almost $300 LESS than I'm paying in rent now.
I'll post some pics!

If your payment will be $300 less than your rent and your mortgage payment is set up on a typical 30 year amortization, then be smart and look at a 15 or 20 year loan.
Typically the payment difference is not a lot (most likely will still be less than the rent you are now paying) but you will save multitudes of money in interest.

Re: I'm Buying a House!!!
Did you ask the previous owners if this house was haunted?
Oh... This house is haunted
Oh... That's how I want it to be
Oh... This house is haunted
You can always stay here with me...

We will go 30 and then overpay just in case times got tight sometime down the road.

Not really. I have a few pieces of glass set around things in animal print and had seen a bathroom like that in an open house and decided that what I was going to do. The rug will just be an added "fun" thing to pull it all together.
With the cabinets and counter being all white, I'll probably paint the walls a dark brown and use those accents pieces for a more dramatic bath room! I'm having fun coming up with different ideas since it's just ME!
