Re: Promised pictures...

Sis. Alvear...

These pictures are such a breath of fresh air. It's so refreshing to see young people who aren't ashamed to be what they are and having a great time while doing it.

I know that as a pastor's wife, my greatest joy is seeing "my kids" having fun, and being a Godly example while at it.

Looks like they had a blast.

Can you give us some examples of what they did during fun time. Was it all based on "scripture"? Also, what did their shirts say?

Inquiring minds want to know...(actually, we are getting ready to have an all church picnic for our 12 year anniversary of pastoring in Salina, the first Sunday in May, so looking for some ideas.)

Re: Promised pictures...

The shirts said: Sons of Thunder and warriors from Heaven.

They were two teams. Not all were in church as good as we would like for them to be as ou can tell....However some of the things they did were...log racing one team against the other team...sack racing, tied their legs together and ran racing...

They cut out scripture puzzles and raced to put them together, Bible quizes, swimming teams. They played water games...rolled each other in mud and sand...the leader would give a word of a song and each team would have 5 seconds to guess what song...they had contests who could cheer the loudest as they did whatever...

They had soccer teams, played volley ball...

As you see not all were christians however a couple that came repented of their sins.

We don´t have a whole lot however we do the best we can. Oh, yes the group that brought the most food won points...

In the end some got trophies and some gold metels...they were blessed and we were blessed to see them blessed.

Thank you for such kind words. That means a lot to me.

Re: Promised pictures...

It took quite a while to do it but I did it with love. I like for each one on this forum to follow the steps of a missionary...It will help you know what we deal with...our ups and downs and the many joys mission life brings.

Re: Promised pictures...

Sis Janice Alvear, worker in the kingdom, teacher to the people, mother to the masses, servent of the Most High God, beautiful daughter of Zion, You are whatever is needed to the people you serve.
I sat here looking at these pictures and reading what you wrote and I am crying. Not sad tears but tears of joy for you and the people of Brazil and those young people. How many pastors and their wives would really get out there and do those things with the young people? No many that I know. They are as blessed to have you all as you are of being part of their lives.
We love you sister. You are not only a blessing to the people there but you bless me daily when I read you posts and see your pictures.

Thank you...we have always believed we are servants to our people now somewhere far above them... I have a hard time relating to ministers that think they are kings and bosses...I deeply love our people.

I am so glad that over 40 years ago I listened to God and came to Brazil as a young single girl...with a deep burden for souls.

And that dear sister is why you are so loved by them in return.
