some guest act. rapper or some such.

if you remember an old 70's song: You spin me right round?

It was some play on that and it was just over the edge vulgar from the first lyric.

I cant even say what they said here. I sat there in shock that it could even be on television then once i got ahold of my senses i turned the channel.

I dont watch AI. maybe a few times during the early parts I have seen some of the idiots. Thats funny.

but generally im not really into finding the next idol. but at the same time, Im not taking shots at folk who watch it.

but last night was just shocking.

I happened to quit watching before then, but I have heard that song on the radio. It is appalling, and really stupid to boot.

From CNN blog Top 8 (an AI show blog)

Quote:
Is Flo Rida’s song appropriate for the many young’uns that watch “AI” faithfully every week? I’m listening to the lyrics and hmmmm …

Someone needs to explain to me what he’s doing on this show. I love hip-hop just as much as the next person, but his appearance seems an odd pairing for tonight’s show, even with a No. 1 song.
Source

Seems you were not the only one turned off by the performance. The comments after the short blog post are heavily against the performance.

AI needs to take note and think twice about that allowing kind of performer on its show.

Props to you for turning it off. Fortunately we have church on Wednesdays and didn't have to make that decision.

Normally we're in church on Wed. night, so I don't see any of it. But last night, we didn't have church because of a big push for Good Friday service this week. When that song came on, I turned to Eddie and said, "surely that's not what they're saying". I kept thinking there was a meaning I was missing. I thought it was totally inappropriate for a family show.

Luckily, Mrs. Steinway and I go to visit my mother on Wednesday nights, and we Tivo the show. When we got home to watch it, we just fast forwarded thru the songs and commercials.

Really? You never use an online search engine and see inappropriate material, even if only a glimpse?

You never go to websites that, unknown to you, have inappropriate ads that you can't help but see before you get to the actual content you want?

Your pop up blocker or other blocking device never fails to catch inappropriate content while you innocently surf the web?

Re: American Idol

It is vexing when you have that kind of thing happening. I have watched a few episodes from time to time. ive seen some of the idiots and Ive seen some of the final groups who were pretty good but I just dont watch it for a number of reasons.

Now there is this new one that just might be more important than all the others. There is a mindset at work here that I want no part of. Its one thing to sing hits. and have a contest. even if you call it IDOL, I get it and understand why some folk dont have a problem watching it.

but when you know there is a mindset of the people in charge to expose young kids to this kind of pornography, i dont see a way to justify it.

All that justifies watching a carnal sinful show? My pop blocker works fine with no problems. Yes advertisement are on net, mags, billlboards..etc....how does that justify willfully turning to watch a carnal sinful show????
