Re: I refuse to remove the landmarks
As someone has posted here recently, some of the "old" landmarks are pretty new.
I remember one Easter, I think it was 1958, the "sack" dress was a fad.
Lots of the ladies in our UPC church wore them.
Our pastor was a pretty wise old man so he said nothing about the new fad.
I remember a pastor in Chicago though who preached on "The sin of the sack."
Some years ago, colored hose/stockings became popular. Of course some thought they had to preach against them but one wise old UPC pastor from NE Ohio mused, "If we'd have told our wives and daughters they had to wear something like that they would have been offended."
Then, not too many years ago, the maxi dress and maxi coat became a fad. A local UPC pastor said they were wrong until his daughter got one.
