This might sound kind of obvious, but I would make a point of explaining to everyone (hello teenagers) why you want the cell phones off, why you don't want texting going on during church. Most teenagers can listen to reason, provided it is presented properly....

I don't think you are out of line. A friend of my Dad's had a cell phone go off in his church during a tongues and interpretation. He banned cell phones after that one....

I say GOOD FOR YOU. I get so tired of seeing that in services. Not just youngsters either. Why not start collecting them at the door and letting them pick them back up after service. I would be all for that

I think you handled it the way it should be handled. I was teaching a class last Saturday and one of the boys was playing with his cell phone. I confiscated it. I did give it back to him at the end of the class.

That's one way to look at it.

Another way is to say, "What a wonderful honor and privilege ChTatum has that he gets to parent both the parishioners' children and the parishioners as well!"
