I think you should hold out to find a church of pefect people (like yourself I am sure).

Ya'll let me know when you find a church of perfect people, cause I would imagine that out back there might be a Unicorn chatting with a Yeti, while they count the gold they've found at the end of the rainbow.......
On a serious note: Be careful not to get carried away judgeing a work in progress as if it's the finished product!

Hyrda! I wish. Then (presuming it was a chip off the ol' block) would only have a 100 heads or so.
For one member-minister org there are around 3500 to 8000 heads (depending on how you count local-licensed heads).
I am hoping that when the member-minister constituents look around and see "hey, we don't have one head, we are just many members striving for unity in the shared experience", they may arrive at a general consensus that this condition is the same for the entire membership of the body of Christ.

Goodness, I struggle with being able to TRUST God after all the junk he has done to me. And He's GOD!!! Perfect, Love, Sovereign, etc.
How can I trust a mere man? I guess it was over on the church attendance thread that I got into that. I have fully admitted that fact. It is definately part of it. But what this thread is dealing with is "Why", Why SHOULD I trust any human spiritually?

The Lord confirmed that I was right in this, as I was reading his word this morning:
Isaiah 2:22 (New Living Translation)
22 Don’t put your trust in mere humans.
They are as frail as breath.
What good are they?

If you were referred to a vile, dynamic equivalence translation like the New Living Translation, it is not God who did it! Here it is in a REAL Bible (formal equivalence/literal translation):
"Stop regarding man in whose nostrils is breath, for of what account is he?"
"Cease ye from man, whose breath is in his nostrils: for wherein is he to be accounted of?"
Consider the following from a REAL Bible:
"Let everyone beware of his neighbor, and put no trust in any brother, for every brother is a deceiver, and every neighbor goes about as a slanderer" ( Jeremiah 9:4).
"Thus says the LORD: 'Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, whose heart turns away from the LORD'" ( Jeremiah 17:5).
"Put no trust in a neighbor; have no confidence in a friend;
guard the doors of your mouth from her who lies in your arms" ( Micah 7:5).

Did God himself write this version? If so, where can I get one? I believe it would clear a lot of things up... or is it again just a compilation of copies of copies of letters and texts which were decided on by a council of men who decided what would go into the bible hundreds of years after the letters and texts of what we know as the New Testament were written (like all other bibles)?
People with the Holy Ghost cannot even be consistant on a trivial issue such as television (yet they all speak directly to God. Ha!)... how can you expect people who were not even Apostolic/Pentecostal to decide what would actually go into the bible. There is no infallible bible... they are all just copies of copies of copies of which were decided on by a group of men who thought they were in a position to decide such things. An infallible bible would have been kept intact, in God's own hand (except that He didn't write any of it, his followers did) throughout the ages, with no question of authenticity...

There is what is often called "the five-fold ministry" (that exercise different kinds of "leadership," it doesn't mean all of them have the same kind of leadership role in the Church) and there are elders.
By asking this question, you deny the clear command of scripture "obey THEM that have the rule over you." Christ is not a them.
But the New Testament describes the Church (and, to an extent, Christians individually) as not only a body (the Church as Christ's body and Christians as body parts) but also as God's building.

If someone just walks into my office one day and says they are my boss, but cannot even prove that they work for my company other than the fact that they say they do... am I in rebellion for not following them? What if they have a "license" from a man-made organization who claims to represent my company (and again, the organization cannot prove that it has been endorsed by the "head office" other than the fact that it says it is).
Once, when I was growing up, at one of those Saturday rest home services my dad held, a little old lady thought I was her son and tried to take me back to her room in her rest home... she sincerely believed she was my mother, should I have followed her because she believed she was in a position of authority over me?

LOL, I knew you would give me a hard time about that....and just to be contentious...here is another version:
Isaiah 2:22 (The Message)
22Quit scraping and fawning over mere humans,
so full of themselves, so full of hot air!
Can't you see there's nothing to them?
