Re: We're Not Putting X-Mas Trees Up!

There is a book out on celebrating biblical holidays. I love that stuff. Some can be downloaded for free. I feel that Jesus who turned the water into wine likes to celebrate and when its bible celebrations its loaded with teaching on why and what was the fullfillment of it. I did this with my girls one year. We are doing Channukah because my
husband has it in his background and does it. It is eight days of gifts yes but I am teaching on how Jesus the true light came into the world and fullfilled law. He is so awewsome. I believe what we do needs to be bible based not world view based. I am not knocking anyone who celebrates but I prefer the bible based celebrations such as Passover. Channukah is a traditional Jewish holiday to celebrate a miricle that occurred during the Maccabean period. Any one else like lighting the Mennorah? mine is electric.lol.and has orange bulbs and comes from Isreal. One of my apostolic girl friends gave it to me.

I was actually reading about that a few weeks ago. It was very interesting how Channukah came to be. I never studied it before...but I had friends from school who celebrated it and I was always curious....

Is this celebration defined in the word of God as the other festivals are such as Passover, Feast Of Tabernacles etc.

My pastor says it's the feast of dedication.

The message at the top is Chanukah for Christians.

I haven't listened to it yet, but plan to sometime this week.

God did it for us. Out of sheer generosity he put us in right standing with himself. A pure gift. He got us out of the mess we're in and restored us to where he always wanted us to be. And he did it by means of Jesus Christ. ~Romans 3:24 from The Message

It keeps starting over... I will try again later...

He has already said 2 things that I would love to see references for...

1. The Book of Daniel prophesied that there would be a holiday named Hanakuh?

2. Jesus celebrated Hanakuh?

I would love to know his references for those statements. Those are news to me.

Too bad you did not see fit to also post the rebuttals showing that Thanksgiving and the pagan festivals were not one in the same.

Even though they took place around the same time of the year, they were not masingenated as a single festival; like Easter and the Passover have been.
